Wedding, Engagement, and
Anniversary Deadlines are Strict
The Observer welcomes news of readers' engagements and weddings, but we must
operate with deadlines.
Engagement announcements must be published in the Observer at least two
months prior to the wedding. Since we also publish wedding stories, a couple is
encouraged to announce their engagement as soon as possible after it occurs.
Wedding forms and photos must be turned in no later than the second Wednesday
following the wedding in order to meet the requirement that they must appear in
the Observer no later than the third Wednesday after the wedding.
For engagements and weddings, a black and white photo is preferred but a good
quality color snapshot can be used. Wedding couples should be aware that
professional wedding photos are generally not ready in time for the Observer's
deadline.
If a photo has a copyright, it is the responsibility of the person submitting
it to obtain a release from the photographer allowing the Observer to print it.
Photos are submitted at the owner's risk. The Observer cannot be responsible
for the condition of photos following the production process.
Engagement and wedding forms are available in the Observer office. The office
is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays.
Deadlines are strictly followed.
